Oil palm is one of the world’s most versatile and widely used crops, producing palm oil and palm kernel oil that are key ingredients in thousands of everyday products. From cooking oil, margarine, and processed foods to cosmetics, soaps, detergents, and even biofuels, oil palm products play an essential role in modern life. Due to its high yield and efficient land use, oil palm is a valuable economic crop, especially for countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, supporting livelihoods while also driving discussions on sustainability and environmental impact.

Cooking Oil

Palm cooking oil is a popular and widely used vegetable oil extracted from the fruit of the oil palm tree (Elaeis guineensis). Known for its golden color, mild flavor, and high heat stability, palm oil is ideal for frying and cooking a variety of dishes. It is rich in natural antioxidants like Vitamin E (tocotrienols) and has a longer shelf life compared to many other cooking oils. In countries like Malaysia, palm cooking oil is a staple in households and food industries due to its affordability, versatility, and nutritional value when consumed in moderation.

Shampoo

SD Guthrie Eco Garden

SD Guthrie Eco Garden is an environmental education and conservation site developed by Sime Darby Plantation, located in Carey Island, Selangor. The Eco Garden serves as a living classroom to promote awareness of sustainable oil palm practices, biodiversity protection, and ecosystem balance. Visitors including students, researchers, and community members can explore various zones showcasing native plant species, composting systems, and sustainable agricultural techniques. Through guided tours, workshops, and interactive exhibits, the Eco Garden supports environmental learning while highlighting Sime Darby’s commitment to responsible and sustainable palm oil production.
